Protecting & Promoting the Pocomoke River Watershed

Environmental protection and tourism in our own backyard

Delmarva Discovery Center lecture series

Wednesday, August 13 at 7:00pm

Jim Rapp, executive director of Delmarva Low-Impact Tourism Experiences (DLITE), is passionate about connecting people to nature. He will be sharing his experiences and excitement about the wild places, wildlife, and heritage along the Pocomoke River. DLITE represents a union of Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia businesses, conservation organizations, and local, state, and federal partners which have formed an alliance to strengthen and promote low-impact, nature-based tourism on Delmarva. Jim will share exciting new partnership opportunities that will involve the Delmarva Discovery Center in 2008-2009.

Wednesday, August 27 at 7:00pm

Joe Fehrer, Nassawango Land Manager, for the MD Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, will be speaking about the Nassawango Creek Preserve and how local conservation efforts fit into the larger global view. He will expand on the Conservancy’s efforts in Maryland, the Pocomoke River watershed, and also at the Nassawango Creek Preserve.
